A Quick Glimpse of our History:
The idea of Dar Al-Tarjama aims for the establishment of a worldwide, comprehensive translation practice, starting with the Arab countries then spreading to the rest of the world. In October 2003, some of the members of the forum at www.amrkhaled.net started forming the team. The team remained very limited in number (not more than 10 members) until the first episode of Suna’a al-Hayah (Life Makers) was broadcasted. With this episode the members felt a great responsibility arising from the shameful international statistics for translation and publication activities in the Arab world compared to the rest of the world. These statistics were announced in the first episode of the program “Suna’a Al-Hayah”. Consequently, the members started taking the initiative by deciding to translate the episodes of the program.By the end of February 2004, Mr. Amr Khaled posted a message of encouragement on one of the team’s forums. After this message, the number of the team members started doubling, on a daily basis, in a way that exceeded all expectations, all asking to join the various convoys. It is worth mentioning that the team’s biggest boosting push came after publicizing the ideas and aims of the team on more than one episode of Suna’a al-Hayah by Mr. Amr Khaled. The team also caught the attention of some other local newspapers and magazines: Al-Shabab magazine (by al-Ahram) and al-Ahram al-Arabi newspaper.
